When Sylvia was 3 she was badly scalded which resulted in 3rd and 4th degree burns. Her family were told that she wouldn’t survive and a Priest was called to give the Last Rights.
But she did recover although she spent most of her life hiding her scars believing she would ‘never be beautiful’. Now, in her early fifties, she looks back and realises that she spent so many years suffering with Anxiety, Depression and PTSD.
Her motto now is ‘learn how to change your life’. She campaigns tirelessly on behalf of those suffering from disfigurements by raising awareness and showing her support through regular blogs and social media. She also attracts a great deal of publicity which helps raise the profile of body confidence.

During the months of June & July do you remember how hot the weather was? Sylvia does; “I remember sitting down and thinking what to do for August as I had already been involved in a Bikini Flashmob in Soho as part of Body positivity. We were recently seen on TV for a series called Sex, knives, and Liposuction with Cherry Healey. It was a great time and it was then that I decided to set up Beach Reveal.”
“Having chosen August I travelled to some of our beaches and persuaded people with scars, health and skin conditions to join with me to embrace their bodies and celebrate being in Bikinis and to enjoy life. If you look at the photos you can tell how everyone is so happy!”
