404,709 People demand action for disabled people and families most affected by the cost of living crisis

From ‘Leonard Cheshire’

There is now a 404,790 strong group of people demanding action for disabled people and families most affected by the cost of living crisis.

We united with Save The Children UK, Mencap, 38 Degrees, Turn2Us and other organisations. Together, we knocked on the door of 10 Downing Street to deliver our collective signatures to the Prime Minister Liz Truss.

Our campaigner Amrit joined us for the day of action.

“It was really exciting handing in the petition and being part of something big! I’ve not done anything like it before. I’m supporting the campaign because the crisis is impacting me and millions of disabled people.

“I was concerned about rising costs before, but now Winter’s coming I’m panicking! The government needs to recognise and address the impact the cost of living is having on disabled people.”

We believe that government support during this cost of living crisis is not targeted and does not go far enough. We won’t stop campaigning until real support for disabled people is delivered.

Do you feel passionately, like Amrit, about the cost of living crisis? Would you like to know about opportunities to speak to us, policy makers or the media about your experience? If so, email: Campaigning@leonardcheshire.org.

Thanks for your support,

P.S. It is a worrying time for many of us. You are not alone.  There are a number of organisations that can offer support.
