In a landmark rock music recording, 60 musicians have come together to re-record Mark Knopfler’s anthemic ‘Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)’, raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.
The all-star lineup features Mark Knopfler, Roger Daltrey, Bruce Springsteen, Nile Rodgers, Joan Armatrading, Joan Jett, Sam Fender, Ringo Starr, Sting, Eric Clapton and many more.
The artwork has been designed by Sir Peter Blake, renowned for his iconic album covers for artists such as The Beatles, The Who and Paul Weller.
The single, was released on 15th March 2024 and is now available to download. It is also the final recording of legendary guitarist Jeff Beck. “It was absolutely meant to be,” says producer Guy Fletcher of the late Jeff Beck’s contribution. “And what he did with it, it just brings you to tears.”
Knopfler himself says, “I think what we’ve had is an embarrassment of riches, really. The whole thing was a high point.”
At least 50% of the proceeds from the single will go to Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America, providing vital support to ensure no young person has to face cancer alone.
