A safe bed has at last been found for a suicidal teenager whose case prompted a High Court judge to condemn care provision as a disgrace.
In his ruling, Sir James Munby, the most senior court judge in England and Wales, said the case should make us all feel ashamed .. “and if nothing was done then I can only say, with bleak emphasis, we will have blood on our hands”.
A bed was found after the judge had made his comments and stated that he could do no more for the girl. Staff at the unit where the girl is being held, had said that sending her back to her home town would be a “suicide mission to a catastrophic level”.
