LOST WAY TO ‘ALZ CLUE’

Older people maybe showing signs of dementia when they start losing their way. Experts say that failing navigational skills may indicate the start of Alzheimer’s.

And who doesn’t now use mobile phones or Sat Navs to find their way around?

Professor Thomas Wolburs, of Magdeburg, Germany, said, “Alzheimer’s can can take ten years to diagnose using cognitive tests tests. Navigation based diagnostics could reduce that.”

He is working on tests but he warned that over reliance on sat-navs may damage navigational skills and raise dementia risks.
