I moved roles in January and have taken on the role of CEO at RESIDE HOUSING – a charitable registered housing provider which only provides housing to those with support needs through disabilities. It is an honour to take on this role in an organisation which works hard to find bespoke housing to meet the needs of those with learning and physical difficulties as well as severe and enduring mental health concerns.
At a moment in time when housing seems to have a political spotlight, I am very aware of the importance that good, fit-for-purpose, adapted, accessible and supported housing plays for people. I watch the BIG Build SOS from time to time, the programme provides such a great insight into the role good housing can play in the quality of life, not just for individuals, but for families as a whole.
I hope in time I will be able to share some of the stories of RESIDE here as well as raising the profile of the challenges faced in providing great places for people to live.
