“MY DISABLED WORLD” – THE BACKGROUND TO OUR JUDGES: TODAY, ANGEL SINCLAIR

Angel Sinclair is one of our 12 Judges for our “My Disabled World” Poetry Competition. She sits on our panel with Stuart Bensusan; Marsha de Cordova MP; Jeff Dodds; Vicky Foxcroft MP; Dame Evelyn Glennie; Eileen Grubba; Kamran Mallick; Ruth Patterson; Martyn Sibley; Justin Tomlinson and Keely Cat Wells.

Angel Sinclair is the founder of Models of Diversity. She is a former model herself and created the campaign for more diversity in the modelling industry. She did this after appearing on Gok’s ‘Miss Naked Beauty’ in 2008. Angel was struck by the great variety of beautiful women participating in the event and how that contrasted with the narrow range we see nowadays.

Angel set up Models of Diversity and says; “We call on the fashion, beauty and marketing industries to recognise the beauty of people of all races, ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. My mission is to change the face of fashion and modelling.”

“We campaign at fashion events, hold street surveys, offer workshops and vigorously promote a more diverse range of models that reflect diversity in society.”

Angel, now in her fifties, grew up in East London, has four children and eight grandchildren.

In addition to managing the agency and Models of Diversity campaign; she is now running success workshops for models, some dedicated to models with disabilities which have received great feedback.
