A University graduate from Guildford has launched a petition calling on the Government to increase funding for NHS mental health services.
Ben Hammond, 22, was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder more than two months ago.
He has since been put on the waiting list for psychiatric assessment and general and psychotherapy counselling and services and says it was a judge who inspired him to take action.
As in one of our earlier news items Mr. Hammond said that it was Sir James Munby (who had dealt with a possibly suicidal 17 year old girl) that encouraged him to take action which he hopes will make the Government take notice.
National statistics say that approximately one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. Ben’s petition can be seen on theĀ change.orgĀ website.
