CONTACTLESS CARDS COST CHARITIES MILLIONS

Charities are losing millions of pounds in donations because people are carrying less loose change. As more and more of us use contactless cards there is not so much need to carry around small coins – and because of this the charities are suffering.

Contactless technology, introduced a decade ago, allows people to pay for transactions up to £30 by waving their card in front of the reader.

However, The Charities Aid Foundation, which has worked with VISA to test contactless giving, believes the the technology has huge potential to change fundraising. It said, “We are always looking to the future and we are convinced there is a massive future for donations using contactless technology”
