RESPITE CUTS FOR CARERS – DOES ANYBODY CARE?

Thank you very much to all of you who filled out our recent survey. Your answers have helped us understand the challenges facing our guests.

Here’s what we learned

Over 60% of carers surveyed had not had a break in the past year and over 25% of respondents have never had a break.

Over three quarters of carers surveyed are caring for over 50 hours per week.
Only 17% are receiving social care funding for respite.

We also know that nationwide, only 1 in 129 carers are receiving regular respite support, a staggering 37% fall since 2015.

That’s why we’re calling on current and future governments to do more through our Give me a break Campaign. Specifically, we are asking them to ensure respite is properly funding. And, that respite funding receives specific protection.

If you have a story to share about the impact of local authority cuts or a lack of access to respite has on you personally, please get in touch.
