PERFECTION IS STAGNATION!

By guest contributor Martyn Sibley

“Happy New Year to you all! I hope the festive break was relaxing, fun and rejuvenating”.

“I had a huge realisation over the festive period that I want to share. It’s pretty simple, yet hugely powerful”!

PERFECTION IS STAGNATION!

“Perfection can have an allure. A feeling of necessity even. Why wouldn’t we want to deliver projects that are perfect? It’s logical in many ways.

There’s one problem though. That aim for devine beauty makes us feel that we are not good enough. That our beautiful ideas and our important messages are not ever ready to release into the world.

So what happens as a result? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. This is the massive issue of perfectionism.”

“Just think of all the personal truths, stunning pieces of art, social good initiatives, and who knows what else, that never graced this earth. What if we flip the script? When we continuously grow, listen to our ideas spend energy on doing our best, and then release it to the world – without any fear? What if we aim to finish our projects, and improve as we go?

It’s exactly what I did with my blog and what we did with Disability Horizons and Accomable. It’s what I’m doing now with World Changers”

“So release your creative and helping ideas. The worse that can happen is it fails, you learn, and you try again. I’ve never known a project to completely fail. Nor to be completely perfect.

Our work is never done. So give yourself a break. Have fun with it. Play with it. The world needs you. You just have to let go a bit.”
